Naturally Occurring Asbestos (NOA) was identified within a layer of placed fill beneath an existing road during construction of a new bypass in regional NSW. During removal of the old pavement, NOA-impacted material was uncovered, with a portion already spread and compacted across sections of the site and additional material stockpiled onsite.
BBN was engaged to assess the extent of NOA impact and develop a management strategy that would allow works to continue safely and compliantly, while minimising environmental and commercial impacts.
