BBN Consulting achieves triple ISO certification
BBN Consulting is now certified to three internationally recognised management standards: ISO 9001 for Quality Management, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management and ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety.
It is an important milestone for BBN, but more importantly, it gives our clients another level of confidence in the systems sitting behind the advice and services we provide.
Since BBN started in 2018, we have grown from two directors with an idea of how environmental consulting could be done better into a team working across increasingly complex projects throughout property, construction, infrastructure, mining and government.
As the business has grown, the systems behind it have had to grow with it.
Achieving triple ISO certification puts those systems under independent scrutiny and confirms that the way we manage quality, environmental responsibility and the health and safety of our people meets internationally recognised standards.
What the three certifications mean
ISO 9001: Quality Management
Quality in environmental consulting goes well beyond the final report.
It is in how a project is scoped, how information is collected, how data is reviewed, how findings are communicated and how consistently the process is followed from one project to the next.
ISO 9001 provides an internationally recognised framework for managing those processes, with a strong focus on consistent delivery, customer requirements and continual improvement.
For BBN, it formalises something we have always placed a lot of value on: giving clients clear, reliable information they can confidently use to make project decisions.
ISO 14001: Environmental Management
As an environmental consultancy, how we manage our own environmental responsibilities matters too.
ISO 14001 provides a framework for identifying and managing environmental impacts, meeting relevant obligations and continually improving environmental performance.
It gives us a structured way to hold ourselves to the same level of environmental accountability that sits at the centre of the work we undertake for our clients.
ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety
Our team regularly works across construction sites, industrial facilities, contaminated environments and other complex project settings.
ISO 45001 provides a framework for identifying and managing occupational health and safety risks, with requirements covering areas including hazard identification, risk assessment, worker participation, incident management and continual improvement.
For us, certification reinforces the systems that help our people plan their work properly, understand the risks and operate safely in the environments our projects take us into.
Why certification mattered to us
This process was not about adding three logos to the bottom of a capability statement.
As BBN grows, we want clients to know that the business behind the technical advice is growing properly too.
Independent certification means our management systems have been assessed against recognised external standards rather than simply relying on us to say that our processes are robust.
It creates accountability, gives us a framework for continual improvement and provides greater consistency as our team, geographic reach and project capability continue to expand.
What it means for our clients
For our clients, the outcome is simple.
The same responsive, practical approach BBN has been built on is now supported by independently assessed management systems across quality, environment and health and safety.
It means stronger processes behind our work, greater consistency as projects move through the business and another level of assurance for clients engaging us on complex or high-risk projects.
We do not see certification as changing the way we work. We see it as strengthening the foundations underneath it.
Where we go from here
BBN has changed considerably since 2018, and this certification is a good marker of how far the business has come.
But ISO certification is not a finish line. These management systems require ongoing review, auditing and improvement, which is exactly how we intend to treat them.
As BBN continues to grow, so too will the standards we expect of ourselves.
For us, the certificates represent both an achievement and a commitment to what comes next.
